H.R. 1815, “VA Home Loan Program Reform Act”, which amends title 38, United States Code

Article Title: H.R. 1815, “VA Home Loan Program Reform Act”, which amends title 38, United States Code

Article Excerpt: "On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the President signed into law:

H.R. 1815, “VA Home Loan Program Reform Act”, which amends title 38, United States Code, to authorize the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to take certain actions in the case of a default on a home loan guaranteed by the Secretary, and for other purposes....VA Home Loan Program Reform Act

This bill authorizes the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to take certain actions in cases of default on home loans under the VA home loan program and establishes a partial claim program.

First, the bill authorizes the VA to pay the holder of a loan guaranteed by the VA an amount necessary to avoid the foreclosure of the loan, provided that the holder of the loan and the veteran obligated on the loan execute documents to ensure the VA obtains a secured interest in the property covered by the loan.

The VA must prescribe loss mitigation procedures to help prevent the foreclosure of such a home loan. The VA may not take specified administrative actions (e.g., consent to the modification of loan terms) until the sequence of mitigation options has been completed.

Next, the bill establishes a five-year Partial Claim Program under which the VA may make a partial claim (purchase a portion of the indebtedness) on VA loans for primary residences that are in default or at imminent risk of default. Individuals who default on loans for which the VA has made a partial claim under this program must be liable to the VA for any loss resulting from the default.

Finally, the VA must report to Congress on its strategy to ensure that veterans who purchase homes under the VA home loan program are not at a disadvantage when attempting to secure representation by a real estate agent or broker. ..."

PRESIDENTIAL MESSAGE ON NATIONAL KOREAN WAR VETERANS ARMISTICE DAY

Article Title: PRESIDENTIAL MESSAGE ON NATIONAL KOREAN WAR VETERANS ARMISTICE DAY

Article Excerpt: "...Beginning just days after the first shots of the Korean War, in the summer of 1950, nearly 2 million Americans embarked on a daring crusade across the Pacific to halt the spread of communism in Asia and restore dignity and independence to the people of South Korea. This National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day, we pay tribute to every American hero who ventured to unfamiliar lands to face some of the most gruesome combat in the history of our country—and we renew our resolve that forces of freedom will always prevail over tyranny and oppression.

Just 5 years after the end of World War II, what is today known as the “Forgotten War” began on June 25, 1950, when the North Korean People’s Army crossed the 38th parallel in a full-scale invasion of South Korea. In response, legions of American troops were commissioned to repel communist aggression..."

Democrats Have Decided to Cancel the Blue Angels

Article Title: Democrats Have Decided to Cancel the Blue Angels

Article Excerpt: "...As RedState reported, left-wing activists are currently trying to cancel the Blue Angels, who have long performed at the annual "Seafair Torchlight Parade" in Seattle. Laughably, one woman is suing two of the squadron's pilots because she claims the sound of their Super Hornets killed her cat. I'm not kidding, but there's a broader movement at play, and if you are at all politically astute, you've likely already guessed it's about "climate change."

A billboard recently went up in the area, headlined with the demand to "Say No to the Blue Angels." Below it are pictures of children clutching their ears, a dog, and a Muslim woman wearing a hijab...For the activists behind this push, their attempt to cancel the Blue Angels isn't really about the Navy burning jet fuel. Rather, it is about supposed American colonial evil, and thus, the Angels must be banished. They simply make too many people happy and proud of their country, and they can't have that. The destruction of the culture is the point, and part of that is sucking the joy out of everything Americans hold dear..."

The nurses often give me tips about patients who might want to tell their stories. I find one—a Navy veteran—and introduce myself. There’s a stuffed animal on the bed table. A turtle. “I love turtles,” I say. He lights up and responds: “Then I love you!”

I sit and ask him about his life. ...I’m a poet and writer. Before retirement, I spent 25 years at the Milwaukee Health Department writing orders to correct food safety violations. I discovered the My Life, My Story program in 2018. Staff at the VA or volunteers like myself interview veterans about their lives and the resulting stories are included in the patient’s medical record.

Patients find it’s healing to have someone’s undivided attention and then a written story about their lives. And the stories offer providers insight and points of connection that might never be discovered in routine visits. It can be a portal to better care. ... Sue Blaustein
